THIS LITTLE FIGGY ALL GONE

I have a sweet and generous sister in law. We were talking about the fig tree at her Mama's and how she would make fig preserves every year. She would call and invite me over as soon as she made them. She always left some warm in the pot for us, which we would eat right away with nice hot, buttered biscuits. She made the best biscuits in the world. Then the rest she put in jars. I would always take some home with me and I remember it as one of the special times I spent with her.

I have a fig tree but birds got mine this year. Doris's husband, Larry set out to find some for me. Thank you Larry, I appreciate that. Then she made me all these lovely jars of figs. I have two, large jars of preserved, whole figs, three jars of regular fig preserves and three Strawberry, fig preserves. I have never tasted Strawberry figs before. They are absolutely delicious. I made biscuits and sat down with a jar and a big smile. Then Billy came home and finished off the pan of bisquits. We love them. Thanks Doris. (((hugs))) You are definitely on our Christmas list. : ) Does anyone else make Strawberry, fig preserves?

I LOVE the sunflowers in your header image! Don't scents and tastes conjure memories, especially of childhood and home?

Thanks about the Sunflowers, Sarah. I grew those in a row behind my garden this year. I was surprised how tall they got!

I have never tried them but sounds good! Sharing is wonderful...

Guess what I brought home in a box today??? A wishing well (some assembly required) from Freight Harbor! Thanks for the tip Cindee.... I am sooo excited about it. It will probably stay in the box for a while due to the high humidity. The sealer probably would not dry in this heat plus who wants to get a paint brush out in this heat? Not me! Will be a fall project. On a sad note some mean person hit my new car (deep scratch) while parked in the parking lot. Hit and Run… Argggg… Some people are so not nice in this world, but I got me a Wishing Well…

Oh skeeter, I am so sorry about your car.
I can't wait to see it when you get it painted and filled with plants. I'm still working on Billy to help me build one.

My dad had a fig tree and he loved eating figs...He would step out in the back yard and just pick the figs, wash them and munch them down right then and there.

I had a friend that made fig jam all the time. She had a recipe that used strawberry jello and the figs and you would never know that figs were ever in the jar. That recipe has been around for a long time. It is a really easy way to make fig jam. The biscuits sounded sooooo good. I bet it was heaven eating warm biscuits and fig jam...Yummmmmmm.
