The pic is of an alfalfa butterfly on an Aster. So beautiful. The storms that just came through here the other night bent some of my Sunflowers to the ground and even broke a few. I knew I should have put stakes but by the time I realized that, they were already so tall. Next year I will remember. It was sad to see their heads bent when just the day before they were straining their little necks up to Heaven. Oh yeah, I feel guilty.
I meant to do my work today,
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me.

Fuzzy Cantaloupe
What surprises me is how fuzzy a new baby cantaloupe is. When they get a little bigger they lose that fuzz, rather like the first hair on the head of the baby. LOL
My Beautiful Sunflowers
I promised you I would show you my Sunflowers when they bloomed. This is a row behind our garden I was hoping they would get tall enough to show above my trellises for the pole beans. They sure did that. They are so pretty. I will defenitely grow more next year and Lord knows I will have enough seed to save. These heads are big. Enough for the birds and for me to save seed to eat and to grow more next year.
Peppers are doing nicely
I forget the name of these. I think they are some type of chili pepper. My green bell peppers are doing great. I didn't have as many banana peppers as I would have liked but they are still producing. I wanted to pickle some but I like them just right out of the garden too. It is not too late, I may plant a few more. We just uprooted all the cabbage and broccoli and planted more tomatoes. We don't need them for us but Billy wants to see if he can sell some.
We had cabbage from the garden tonight with a cucumber, tomato, green onion and radish salad. It felt so good to know all of that was from our garden . : )

Cantaloupe are growing fast
Here is a pic of a baby cantaloupe. I think we are going to have a lot of these and watermelon too. I hope so, I love both. I am growing organic so I have to watch closely for bugs. As long as the plant stays healthy, they will usually leave them alone.
